WEST HAVEN, Oct. 23, 2013 — Edith E. Mackrille Elementary School on Oct. 23 announced the winners of its recycling poster contest, which was sponsored by AFB Management. The company handles the school district’s recycling.

Students in each grade either drew a poster or colored one in, with teachers picking winners.

The winners are:

--Magaly Romero for first grade, with a poster theme of “What to do, what not to do” when it comes to recycling.

--Allison Pastore for second grade, with a poster theme of positive things kids can do for the environment.

--Skyler Gullo for third grade, with a poster theme about saving the earth for the next generation.

--Elena Petrie for fourth grade, with a global poster theme.

The school kicked the contest off with an assembly about recycling and pollution. The winners received recycled crayons, stickers, award ribbons and a Barnes and Noble gift card.
